Week 16 NFL Picks Against an 8-Year-Old

Merry Christmas everyone!  The kid must have been counting his presents under the tree last week.  He slipped a little bit, but I still don't know if it was enough to give anyone else any hope.

Week 15 NFL Picks Against an 8-Year-Old

Last week I compared our picks to the stretch run of a horse race. JDaddy was coming on strong, but the kid felt the pressure, dug in his heels, and pulled away.  We all had respectable weeks-unusual for the Cheap Seats-but the 8-year-old had the best week.  He picked the right time to finally go against the Cowboys.

The best season ever was in 2012 when yours truly went 137-113-6.  The kid needs to pick 30 winners in the last 3 weeks of the season.  Won't be easy, but who's going to bet against him?

Just like a great thoroughbred, JDaddy is making his move as we turn the corner to head down the homestretch.  The 8-year-old is maintaining his lead, but after back-to-back 11-5 weeks, JDaddy has climbed into second with his sights on the kid.  The biggest problem for JDaddy is that he needs to kid to have a bad week, which rarely seems to happen.  Still, with 4 weeks to go, 9 games doesn't seem to be that big of a deficit.

The kid didn't win the week, but he expanded his lead yet again with a solid 10-6 week.  JDaddy had a great week with 11 wins.  2 straight last place finishes by Uncle J has allowed JDaddy out of the cellar.  Can anyone catch the kid? We've got a big weekend ahead of us.  The Aggies take on Alabama, and the Cowboys can't lose!  Also, we are participating in our annual JDRF One Walk, raising money for Type 1 Diabetes research, which benefits the 8-year-old and millions like him suffering from T1D.  If you'd like to donate, please do!

Through 4 weeks we're looking pretty good.  No one has completely tanked, and we are all holding our own.  We've always graded the kid against the point spread, just like the rest of us, but this year he's actually taking the spread into his own thinking when picking his winners.  I don't think he knows what to do with that information, but then again, neither do we.

Editor's Note: These picks were made before the games.  I just didn't get a chance to post them before the weekend.  My sincere apologies to our millions of readers.  I'll try to do better in the future.

 Like Rocky and Jason, we keep coming back, and we won't go away! Welcome to the 5th season of our experts picking against a kid.  We started when the kid was 4.  He just turned 8 yesterday.  My, how time flies.  If you're new to this, we have 4 contestants.

JDaddy - been watching football for a long time
Uncle J - been watching football for a long time
CDog - been watching football for a long time
8-Year-Old - watches football until he gets bored; then goes and does something else

The record stand as:

8-Year-Old - 2 wins (including the inaugural year when he was 4)
CDog - 1 win
JDaddy - 1 win
Uncle J - 0 wins, although he skipped the first year

We pick against the line, although the kid typically doesn't take that into account.

Now that the Seahawks have thrown away the Super Bowl, and Tom Brady has joined company with Terry Bradshaw and Joe Montana, we can finally announce the winner of the 4th Cheap Seats pick 'em contest against a kid. 

This year the kid did not fare too well.  However, he did finish strong.  Uncle J tried to make a comeback to finish 2nd but was just a little short.

But the winner by a mile was the founder of this website, JDaddyDu.  Congrats to him, it's been a long time coming.
